Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at UPMC in Central Pa.

Community LifeTeam is a Mobile Integrated Health Service that employs highly trained, certified Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics that are ready to respond to any medical emergency, day or night.

LifeTeam EMS continues to expand our emergency medical service operations to serve the needs of communities by providing both basic and advanced life support to communities located in Dauphin, Northumberland, Schuylkill, York, Adams, and Perry Counties.

In addition to emergency ambulance responses, Community LifeTeam offers non-emergency ambulance transportation to patients of the UPMC Central PA hospital system. Our paratransit division provides wheelchair van transportation and medical car transportation to meet the needs of those patients as well.

Community LifeTeam is a member of the Central Task Force which includes deployments to regional and nationally declared disasters. Our paramedics also support Harrisburg City Fire Department’s Rescue 1, a technical rescue team in Dauphin County. Several of our paramedics are also certified Medical Specialists with Pennsylvania Task Force 1, an urban search and rescue team.

Helping Our Community

Community Paramedicine

As a Mobile Integrated Health Service, our Community Paramedicine program helps patients overcome challenges that they may face after being discharged from the hospital. Paramedics will assist patients by ensuring that the patient has filled their prescriptions, verify medications, answer any questions the patient may have, and let the patient’s physician know how they are doing. Later, a paramedic from Community Paramedicine will follow up with the patient to make sure that they are following their plan of care appropriately and update the patient’s physician to ensure that the patient stays on a healthy track.
