Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is a genetic disorder that affects almost 1.4 million people worldwide.

At the HHT Center of Excellence of UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh, we provide adults and children with complete care across all medical fields that pertain to HHT.

HHT is an inherited blood vessel disease that causes abnormal connections between arteries and veins, or arteriovenous malformations (AVMs).

Our team of HHT doctors and genetic counselors will:

Cure HHT has deemed us a Center of Excellence. This means our standard of care must meet or exceed their guidelines for treating people with HHT.

We're one of just 18 HHT Centers of Excellence in North America. And, we're the only one within 100 miles of Pittsburgh.

Focusing on HHT Research

In addition to providing state-of-the-art care to people with HHT, the HHT Center's research programs allow us to:

  • Improve our understanding of the biology that underlies AVM development in HHT patients.
  • Overcome the current limitations of managing and treating this disease.
  • Devise even better ways for managing HHT-related complications.
