Why Choose UPMC Hamot for Heart and Vascular Care?
We were first to bring a number of heart and vein treatments and services to the Erie region.
Expert heart and vascular care
The heart and vascular team at UPMC Hamot includes general cardiologists, cardiac electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, vascular surgeons, and advanced practice providers.
Door-to-cath lab emergency care for heart attacks
During a heart attack, every minute is crucial. Prompt care not only saves lives, but also helps limit heart damage.
That’s why UPMC Hamot put in place its direct-to-cath lab code.
If you're having a heart attack, we route you right away to the cath lab for immediate and vital care.
Bypassing the ER saves precious time and heart muscle. At UPMC Hamot, our average door-to-balloon time is 49 minutes, below the national benchmark.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
UPMC Hamot is one of only a few centers in the U.S. approved to perform innovative TAVR procedures.
Surgeons use TAVR to replace your faulty aortic valve with an artificial one. The minimally invasive technique means no need for a heart-lung machine.
More heart and vascular firsts
Along with the heart attack ER and TAVR, UPMC Hamot was the first in the region to offer:
