If you use MyUPMC or MyCHP, you still have access to all existing portal features to connect with any of your providers located in Southwest Pa. who are still using MyUPMC or MyCHP.
Yes, if you already have proxy access for someone else—like a child, parent, or loved one—you will still have access to their account in the new portal.
You can log in or create an account for the UPMC Patient Portal by downloading the MyChart app via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on mobile. You can also access the portal on a web browser by visiting portal.upmc.com.
MyChart is a secure app that provides patients with access to the UPMC Patient Portal.
Once you download the MyChart app, search UPMC by selecting “Search for an organization” or “Add organization.” Once you locate the UPMC Patient Portal, select to add it to your MyChart account.
If you've previously used MyUPMC or the UPMC Central PA Patient Portal, you can log into the UPMC Patient Portal with the same username and password. If you haven’t used one of these portals, you will either receive an Instant Activation email after your first appointment, or you can sign up on the UPMC Patient Portal website.
You may need to update your password to fit UPMC’s new security rules. To do this, select “Forgot Password” on the login screen and follow the steps to set a new one.
You can reset your password by choosing “Forgot Password” on the login screen.
Two-step verification helps keep your account secure by requiring a password and a unique code before logging in. A code will be sent to you via email or text message. When you log in, you will be asked to verify your identity, providing your portal with an extra layer of protection to keep your health information safe.
Turning on two-step verification strengthens the security of your account by requiring a second verification step in addition to the password. This significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.
If you requested a code via text/SMS, please allow up to 10 minutes for the code to be delivered. If you requested a code via email, please check spam/junk folders for an email from the UPMC Patient Portal. If after 15 minutes the code has not arrived, go back to the UPMC Patient Portal to the "Verify Your Identity" screen and request a new code. Under the Verify button, click the link to "Resend code."
You can create a new UPMC Patient Portal account on the web by visiting the UPMC Patient Portal website and selecting Sign Up Now. On mobile, you can download the MyChart app, search for and add UPMC Patient Portal, and follow the steps to sign up there.
Yes, at your next visit you can ask the office staff for help setting up your account. If you need help before then, you can call UPMC Patient Portal Support at 1-833-298-7320.
UPMC uses your email address to send you reminders of upcoming appointments, new test results, and other important health updates from your care team.
We recommend using your own email address. If you share an email with someone else, they might see private information like your appointments, test results, and messages from your care team.
You can view your upcoming appointments in the UPMC Patient Portal. Go to the “Appointments and Past Visits” section to find the details. If you don’t see your appointment listed, your provider may still be using MyUPMC. If you have a MyUPMC account, log in there to check for any other appointments.
Some appointments can’t be canceled or rescheduled online. If you need to make a change, please contact your care team. If you need to make a change, please contact your care team or call Scheduling Services at 1-800-533-8762.
Not all UPMC providers are moving to the new portal at the same time. Starting in September, most providers located outside of Southwestern Pa. will move to the new UPMC Patient Portal, while most providers in Southwestern Pa. will stay in MyUPMC. In Fall 2026, all providers will be available in the new portal. If you have trouble finding your provider, you can call Scheduling Services at 1-800-533-8762 for help or find your provider in the UPMC Provider Directory. Only providers you have seen in the past 3 years will appear in your Care Team.
You cannot yet use the UPMC Patient Portal to schedule appointments with new providers not in your Care Team. To schedule an appointment with a new provider, use the UPMC Provider Directory or call Scheduling Services at 1-800-533-8762. In the future, you will be able to schedule with new providers directly in the UPMC Patient Portal.

If you need additional health records, you are able to request them through the portal.
In the new UPMC Patient Portal, you can view approximately five years of your recent health information. This includes test results, imaging results (x-rays, etc.), vital signs (BP, temperature, pulse), and eye and dental information. You can request additional medical records at any time through the new portal.
In the portal Document Center, you are able to download summaries of previous visits. To receive a formal copy of your entire health record, go to the portal Sharing Hub. Choose to share with Yourself and select the Request a Formal Copy option. Your requested documents will appear in the Requested Records section of the portal Document Center.
Yes, your providers will still have access to your medical records.
While moving prescription details to the UPMC Patient Portal, some medications were accidentally duplicated. We apologize for the confusion.

Yes, you can send new messages to providers on your care team in the new portal. If you don’t see your provider listed, they may not be added to the new system yet. You may be able to message them in your previous portal if you have an existing MyUPMC or MyCHP account. If not, contact your provider’s office directly.
Messages older than five years are not available in the UPMC Patient Portal. You can still view messages from the past five years, but they will be closed, meaning you won't be able to reply to them. If you would like to continue a conversation in progress, you must start a new message in the UPMC Patient Portal.
To pay a bill for care received before Sept. 27, 2025, follow the instructions included on your billing statement. If you received your statement by email or text, use the link provided. If you do not have your statement or need additional help, call UPMC billing customer service at 1-833-927-8762.
To pay a bill for care received on or after Sept. 27, 2025, log in to your UPMC Patient Portal. Note: if your care was in Southwestern PA, your bill may appear in the MyUPMC portal instead. If you’re not sure where to find your bill, please check both portals or contact UPMC billing customer service at 1-833-927-8762.
Yes, previously stored credit card information will not move to the UPMC Patient Portal. You will need to re-enter and save your preferred payment method once you log in.
No, your existing payment plans will continue as usual. You can set up any new payment plans for new bills in the UPMC Patient Portal.
If you have received a message from UPMC about billing, please follow the instructions in the message to find your statement. If you are unable to find your statement, call UPMC billing customer service at 1-833-927-8762.
Your billing preferences will default to paperless billing. If you prefer to receive paper bills in the mail, please navigate to the Billing section of the portal to reset.
