Amenities at UPMC Shadyside

For your convenience, bank machines are available in 2 locations:

• Cancer Pavilion, 1st Floor, near the visitor elevators.
• Shadyside Medical Building, 1st Floor, across from the Hopwood Library.
• UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Ground Floor, near the gift shop.

In collaboration with Central Blood Bank, UPMC Shadyside houses an on-site blood donation center. The blood donation center helps to ensure that an adequate blood supply is available for those in need.

Every Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., our weekly blood drive is open to all patients, families, and staff.

An interfaith chapel is located in Posner Tower on the 1st Floor.

Prayer books, Bibles, and electric Sabbath candles are available on request.

Vending areas

Vending machines with cold food items are located throughout the UPMC Shadyside campus.

Use of the UPMC guest network (WiFi) at UPMC Shadyside is free of charge.

• Devices are able to connect to the Internet via the public WiFi network.
• You will be required to agree to the Acceptable Use Policy each time you access the Internet.

The Hopwood Garden and atrium is off of the Ground Level of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at UPMC Shadyside.

The Japanese Garden is located in front of the Main Entrance (Centre Avenue) at UPMC Shadyside.

The Hopwood Library is located on the First Floor of the West Wing Concourse.

It offers a wide selection of books, pamphlets, magazines, newsletters, and videos in commonly used language about:

• Diseases
• Chronic conditions
• Drugs
• Tests and procedures
• Treatments
• Wellness

Computers (including wheelchair-accessible) are available for online searches.

Professional library staff can help patients and visitors find the information they need. The library has alcoves for more private viewing or reading and photocopy services are available.

The Hulme Meditation Area is a quiet place for reflection and relaxation.

It is located near the Hopwood Garden and atrium on the Ground Level of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
