UPMC Northwest promote health care professions with student internships. To manage student internships across the UPMC system, the Education Department receives and processes all internship applications. We will approve student interns whose college course of study requires an internship based on availability.
How to Apply for a Student Internship
Prior to completing any requirements, contact the Education Department by emailing nwstudentinternship@upmc.edu.
Emails will be answered between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to confirm placement availability.
Please include the following in your email:
- Name of school
- Area of Study
- Department of interest
- Anticipated internship dates
- Total hours required
- Contact information
Once availability is confirmed, you will need to complete the below requirements. These will be submitted to your faculty.
All requirements must be completed and approved by UPMC prior to starting an internship.

Participants will be directed to create an account and login before completing module. Then:
- Click Register for a Class
- Click Create for an Account
- Leave Preferred Class Date as defaulted
- Submit
- Click Complete to the left of the course title
- Click Review Course Material
- Make sure to follow all instructions for completing the course and obtaining the certificate
