Advanced Technology and Treatment

Patients with diabetes are at greater risk for developing wounds that may lead to amputation. The following conditions, combined with diabetes, put patients at greater risk for these wounds:

  • Impaired blood circulation
  • Loss of nerve function
  • A weakened immune system
  • Foot ulcers
  • Infections

The World Health Organization estimates that up to 85 percent of amputations are preventable. Early treatment and intervention is often the key to successful amputation prevention.

In addition to our collaborative team of specialists, the Limb Salvage Program offers the latest technology and treatments for advanced wound care and amputation prevention.
