Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer, UPMC Hamot
James E. Donnelly joined Hamot Medical Center (now UPMC Hamot) in 1998 and currently serves as both the chief nursing officer and chief quality officer. In this capacity, he has full responsibilities for nursing services throughout UPMC Hamot, as well as oversight of the Emergency Department.
Since joining Hamot, Mr. Donnelly has made a significant impact on the organization by spearheading numerous process improvement teams and quality initiatives to elevate the level of care provided to UPMC Hamot patients. These initiatives include the implementation of IV smart pump technology with the Infusion Team, the execution of the online incident report system with IM Data, the creation of metrics and goals for patient safety and quality, and the origination of nursing M&Ms.
Prior to joining Hamot, Mr. Donnelly was employed by Millard Fillmore Health Systems. He served on the cardiovascular leadership team and was director of the Clinical Perfusion Services. In the past, he has also served as a clinical perfusionist.
