The Wound Care Center at UPMC Cole treats pediatric, adult and geriatric patients who have wounds and skin problems including, but not limited to:
The Wound Care Center provides comprehensive patient assessments, including nutrition, caretaker, pressure ulcer risk, noninvasive arterial blood flow and foot sensation for patients with diabetes as well as individualized patient education. Wound care may include debridement, advanced dressing technology, platelet-derived growth factor, compression therapy, vacuum-assisted closure (negative pressure wound therapy), bioengineered skin grafts, pulsatile wound irrigation and nursing care by a certified wound nurse.
The goal of the Wound Care Center is to provide high-quality wound care through accurate wound diagnosis and comprehensive wound management that will decrease healing time, reduce the prevalence and severity of lower extremity amputations, provide education, increase knowledge for prevention of further complications, and provide continuity of care.
