UPMC Schools of Nursing Activities and Services

At UPMC Schools of Nursing, we want to provide the resources and activities to help you transition from student to nursing professional.

The Schools of Nursing Ambassador Program

Our Ambassador program pairs an exceptional second-year nursing student with a first-year student.

The second-year student ambassador offers tips for success and important information about clinical sites and other student resources.

This provides the first-year nursing student with basic support and guidance as needed.

SNAP (Student Nurses' Association of Pennsylvania)

The goals of SNAP are to introduce UPMC student nurses to a professional organization and promote leadership.

SNAP members:

  • Participate in educational meetings.
  • Organize charitable events.
  • Attend conferences with student nurses across Pennsylvania.

The Lifesolutions Program

Stressed? Problems in your personal life? Need someone to talk to? TheLifeSolutions service is free to UPMC Schools of Nursing students.

You can receive six sessions per problem with a mental health professional.

Sessions are available over the phone or face-to-face, and will provide you with:

  • Support and guidance.
  • Coping strategies.
  • Resources for more help.

You can call LifeSolutions — 24 hours a day, seven days a week — at 1-800-647-3327. All calls are private and kept completely confidential.

Or, visit the LifeSolutions website and use the code "shystudent" to access the program.
