How to Apply for an Administrative Fellowship

Applications for the UPMC International Administrative Fellowship (Ireland/Italy) program are coming soon. To receive the application for the in-country recruitment when it is available, please email adminfellowship@upmc.edu.


Requirements

The UPMC Administrative Fellowship is intended for post-graduates who have completed their graduate studies within the last 18 months. 

Candidates must possess excellent analytic and communication skills, should be motivated and self-starting, and adaptive to change. Prior to starting the fellowship program, interested applicants must have a master's degree* from an accredited university in:

  • Health Administration (MHA), CAHME accredited Univeristy 
  • Public Health (MPH), CEPH accredited University
  • Business Administration (MBA), AMBA, AACSB, or EQUIS accredited University 
  • Or other related master's degree program

Please note UPMC is unable to offer employer sponsorship for employment authorization for the Administrative Fellowship position. 

*Candidates finishing master's degree programs requiring an administrative residency after completing classroom curriculum are eligible to apply. Accepted candidates are required to complete both years of the administrative fellowship program.

Please be sure to follow all application instructions for consideration. Applications open Monday, July 10, 2023.

Applicants must attach the following in a single PDF: resume, undergraduate transcript, graduate transcript, 2 letters of recommendation (one professional, one from graduate program director or graduate school professor), and personal statement (2-page limit). We recognize that some recommenders may prefer their recommendation letters to be confidential. If they would like to send the recommendation letter directly, please have them send it to adminfellowship@upmc.edu. The personal statement must include the following:

  • Describe how the UPMC Fellowship Program aligns with your professional career goals.
  • UPMC is committed to the growth and retention of administrative fellows post the administrative fellowship program. When thinking about your future, both professionally and personally, where do you see yourself in five years?
  • Discuss your first work experience (college or earlier) and describe the valuable skills it provided to you.
  • Provide a brief summary of hobbies and personal interests.
  • Please rank the following tracks you would be interested in applying for, 1 being your top preference, 2 second, etc.
    The tracks available are:
    • UPMC Health Services Division – UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside (Pittsburgh, PA)
    • UPMC Health Services Division – Central PA (Harrisburg, PA)
    • UPMC Health Services Division – Northern PA & NY (Erie, PA)
    • UPMC Insurance Services Division – (Pittsburgh, PA)
    • UPMC Enterprises (Pittsburgh, PA)
