If you've struggled with obesity—and diet and exercise haven't worked—you're not alone: more than 1 in 20 Americans over the age of 20 are morbidly obese, increasing their risk for type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain cancers, and keeping them from the happy and active life they deserve.*
Whether you need help making dietary and lifestyle changes, or are considering a life-changing weight loss procedure, UPMC can help put you on the path to success.

If you're not a candidate for weight loss surgery, or want to lose weight with non-surgical means, then our medical weight management program may be just what you need.
Our Medical Weight Management Program at UPMC in Central Pa. treats the problems of overweight and obesity as a chronic problem. No matter how you lose weight, you are at risk of regaining. In our program, we work with you to help you learn how to manage your weight for the long term.

- Refer to physical therapy services to work with you to build a wellness program that you can continue.
- Utilize weight loss medication as appropriate for each patient.
Minimally Invasive Weight Loss Surgery Options
Facing major surgery can feel overwhelming, but you'll find peace of mind with our minimally invasive weight loss procedures. Our providers specialize in bariatric surgery, including laparoscopic gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revision surgery, which often require just a few small incisions. For you, that may mean less pain, scarring and risk of infection, a shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery.
