Dr. Barrie received his MD and PhD from the University of Cincinnati and conducted his internal medicine residency at Duke University. During his GI fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, he received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to support his IBD research. An expert in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Dr. Barrie is researching the future of immunological and genetic treatments for IBD patients.
Dr. Barrie’s research articles have been published in a wide variety of journals, including Molecular and Cellular Biology, Clinical and Applied Immunology and Gastroenterology Clinics of North America.
