UPMC supports and provides health care for all conditions, illnesses, and medical needs. All health observances are important. Although we cannot recognize all of them through the UPMC colors, we work to represent as many as possible through the chosen color.
Why Orange in March?
For the month of March, UPMC has turned our sign at U.S. Steel Tower orange in honor of the following:
- National Kidney Month
- World Kidney Day (March 12)
- Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month
- National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
On March 21, our sign will be blue and yellow in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day and in celebration of the inaugural "Better Together" Gala. The gala, sponsored by UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, benefits the Down Syndrome Center of Western PA and the Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh.
We would also like to recognize:
- World Birth Defects Day – March 3 (blue)
- National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day – March 25 (green)
- Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month (red)
- Colorectal/Colon Cancer Awareness Month (blue)
- National Endometriosis Awareness Month (yellow)
