UPMC offers several convenient ways to get the care you need without leaving the comfort of home.
Many of our primary care providers and specialists offer video visits that you can access from wherever is most convenient for you. To go to your scheduled video visit, all you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer and one of our free patient portal apps.
The region you live in determines which patient portal your video visit will take place in. Choose the patient portal that’s right for you by browsing our directory or by asking your care team.
Looking to schedule a video visit with your primary care doctor or specialist? There are a few ways to do it:
- At your next in-person visit, ask your care team if they offer video visits for care. If so, you can schedule your next appointment while you’re there. Be sure to confirm which free patient portal you’ll need to use on the day of your visit.
- If you have an established provider, call their office to inquire about video visits. If they offer video visits, schedule over the phone and be sure to confirm which free patient portal you’ll need to sign up for and use on the day of your visit.
- If you have an existing patient portal account through UPMC, you can schedule a video visit with your provider when you log in online or in the app.
- Search our provider directory for the type of appointment or provider you need. The provider’s profile will have a video visit banner if they offer them*. You can even filter by video visits when you search, then schedule the video visit right there in the provider directory.
Already scheduled your video visit and ready to start your appointment? The patient portal you’re using will have specific instructions for joining your scheduled visit online or in the app.
*Video visits are not available for certain types of visits or with certain providers. Contact your doctor’s office to find out if a video visit is available for your appointment.
Video visits are all about convenience while still getting the primary and specialty care you need. If you choose a video visit for an appointment with your provider, you can:
- Receive care right where you are.
- Submit relevant photos for your provider to review ahead of the video visit.
- Renew your prescriptions.
- Message your provider with follow-up questions.
For many providers, you can even schedule your next video visit with them right in your patient portal account.
