Every month UPMC employees lend a hand in the community by participating in donation drives, volunteering at local activities, and attending events to learn more about specific needs and causes. Donation drives range from adult briefs and diapers to canned food, household items, and school supplies. Volunteering varies from helping with Project Prom to working in community gardens. Attending events can span awards ceremonies for community heroes, to workshops on diversity.
The various donate, volunteer, and attend activities occur in Allegheny, Blair, and Erie Counties. Some of the organizations and activities that UPMC employees participate in are Animal Friends, Dress for Success, Cards for Veterans, local food bank drives, Pittsburgh Pride, Project Prom, and various holiday toy wrapping events. Lend A Hand barrels are located at UPMC facilities to collect donations.
If you are an organization who is interested in partnering with UPMC for Lend A Hand collections or volunteer participation, please email us at inclusion@upmc.edu.
If you are an employee interested in adding your office location to our list of distribution centers or would like to be a Lend A Hand facilitator for your location, please see the Facilitator guidelines here and email us at inclusion@upmc.edu to get you started.
